Singer Lilkidayo says he’s undeterred because of lack of manager and producer

“My personal life has been a motivational story which I sometimes share musically with anyone who cares to listen. I just want to encourage everyone to not give up, that is why I released the single ‘My Life’ on August 17, 2017.” These are the words of Lilkidayo, an upcoming singer whose genre is Ghanaian Hiplife and Afrobeats.

To Lilkidayo, music became a passion from age ten both as a form of escape and release. He explained to TheAfricanDream.net in an interview that he could dive into the pool of music to forget about his difficulties and emerge from that pool to infect people with the positivity he acquired from it.

Lilkidayo has no airplay yet, but that doesn’t deter the Hiplife and Afrobeats singer from churning out tracks because he has a decent following online who help get his music out there, something which has earned him recognition from Kobalt Music Production based in Germany via social media interaction.

Born November 2, 1997, Obed Owusu Tawiah aka Lilkidayo is an Ashanti based in Effiduase, a town in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He grew up in an interfaith household with seven siblings. His parents, like himself, are practicing Mormons and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS).

The singer revealed to TheAfricanDream.net that he first started to record music in 2015 when he worked on a song titled ‘On Fleek‘. That song gave him the vibe and energy to do more songs as he realized his love for music had always been quietly waiting inside to be shared with the world.

“My parents upon hearing ‘On Fleek’ gave me the motivation I needed to carry on.”

“Bismark Owusu Agyemang and Enoch Atta Agyei, my elder siblings have also been very supportive of my music, so have cousins and friends of mine. This support and some determination are what has created what you see in me today despite my limited resources and lack of a management team,” Lilkidayo said. He stressed the fact that his LDS background has also taught him to keep enduring to the end both in his relationship with God, his life, and his music career.

“These are the things that energized me to come out with a series of back-to-back singles including ‘Bie Mu‘, ‘Yummy Mummy‘, ‘Ohemaa (joo)‘, ‘You For Know Me‘, ‘Take Easy (released March 2017)‘, ‘Up To You‘, ‘My Life‘, ‘Kofcity Love‘ which is an ode to the city of Koforidua where I was raised, and my February 2018 single titled ‘Lawyer‘.” Listen to Lawyer in this link https://soundcloud.com/user-231707142/lawyer

Quite a number of his songs are love songs and when asked why, the singer who completed his senior high school education at Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in his township of Effiduase, Koforidua, said: “love is the most precious gift God ordained to mankind.”

“My music is slowly getting out there thanks to the support of my family, I’d like to give shouts to ‘Giftking‘, a Koforidua based artiste whom I featured on ‘Kofcity’, and legendary Ghanaian musicians like Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba, and Amakye Dede whose authentic Ghanaian music have been a great influence for me.”

Without a manager and producer yet, Lilkidayo keeps pushing onwards with big dreams of breaking into the mainstream and having a global impact.
