Isaac Agyemang sworn-in as new University of Ghana SRC president; promises to be corruption-free

Winner of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council presidential election, Isaac Agyemang, has been sworn-in as the new president of the students front of the University.

Isaac Agyemang, together with other elected officers of the SRC, were sworn in at a UG SRC Excellence Awards, which was held at the Great Hall of the University yesterday.

The level 300 Archaeology student, Isaac Agyemang, defeated Anthony Julius in the presidential elections in April.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Isaac Agyemang promised to work in the interest of students to raise the standard of the SRC.

He said that he was happy that the students elected him into office and ensure that he does not disappoint them.

“I am humbled that the student populace has so clearly chosen me to lead them. I on the behalf of the elected executives for the 2019/2020 academic year express our profound gratitude to the students’ populace for the confidence they have reposed in our abilities and we assure them we will work around the clock to meet their demands”.

Isaac Agyemang also recognized the work of his predecessors for the successes they have chalked during their stay in office.

“I salute the efforts of all other Former Presidents, indeed, their achievements are worth celebrating”.

He however said that although the faith of students in the SRC had gone down, he would ensure that the sSRC regains their trust.

“I have signed a social contract with the discerning students of this great institution and therefore the Agyemang-led SRC administration would be anchored on building a formidable, independent and a corruption free SRC that has students welfare as a paramount concern”.

Isaac Agyemang also pledged to be accountable and leave corrupt-free legacy as SRC President.

Possible Privatization of UGEL Hostels

Isaac Agyemang assured the students populace of working with university management on finding amicable ways of around the possible privatization of the hostels.

“My administration is hoping to partner with the government and the management of the University to find an amicable solution and perhaps a permanent diagnosis to the alleged privatization saga rather than a pain killer approach”

He also promised to uphold the Vice-chancellor’s Green Project as part of their sanitation policy.

“Fellow students let me remind you that, administration has a comprehensive policy on sanitation which intends to promote the green beauty of our surroundings and making campus a healthy place to be”.

He called for the support of University management as well as that of students as his administration takes over the affairs of students

Isaac Agyemang succeeds Sylvester Amoako and will lead the students front of the University for the 2019/2020 academic year.
