He won the presidential elections after three rounds of voting at Friday’s Elective Congress held in Accra. 
 
Here is what you need to know about Kwesi Nyantakyi’s successor in his own words: 
 
My name is Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku. The name Okraku definitely rings a bell in the history of football in our beloved Ghana. 
 
It was, therefore, not by coincidence that my experience with the beautiful game started at a very early age (17-year-old) when I formed Shooting Stars FC, a colts club at Achimota. Since then every step I have taken has been in connection with the football industry. 
 
My love for the beautiful game has sent me on a great journey to becoming a sports journalist and seasoned football administrator. 
 
From becoming Chairman of the ever famous colts club, Jawara Babies, to Communication Director of Afienya United FC to being one of the first students. 
volunteers as a Sports Presenter/Producer at campus-based Radio Universe while I was studying for my Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Ghana; it has always been football. 
 
I have owned and continue to own a colts football club. I have owned a division three club, successfully owned a division two club, a division one club and been involved in the management of a number of premier league clubs. Thus, I have seen it all at every stage of our football ecosystem and in a position to lead the resolution of the challenges that confront the industry. 
 
Again, from managing the Ghana League Clubs Association to attaining a Masters in Business Administration in football Management from the prestigious University of Liverpool, trained by the very best, I believe I am well prepared for the quest I am embarking on.

</tbody></table>Kurt E. S. Okraku is the new Ghana Football Association (GFA), President after his closest rival George Afriyie conceded defeat during the third round of voting at Friday’s Elective Congress held at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra. 
 
Mr Afriyie, a former GFA Vice President, shockingly announced his decision as delegates were casting their votes for the third time. 
 
After two rounds of voting, no candidate polled 61 votes representing 50+1% required for an outright victory. 
 
In the first round, Kurt Okraku received 44 votes in the first round, George Afriyie 40, Nana Yaw Amponsah 27 and Fred Pappoe had six. 
 
The other two candidates Amanda Clinton and George Ankomah Mensah had no vote. 
 
The second-round contest saw three candidates, Kurt Okraku, George Afriyie, and Nana Yaw Amponsah as Fred Pappoe withdrew and Amanda Clinton and George Ankomah were knocked out because of their least votes in the first round. 
 
Kurt Okraku won the second round with 59 votes, 16 more than George Afriyie. Nana Yaw Amponsah finished with the least votes here as he earned 16. 
 
Thus a third-round was required and it was going to be a straight fight between Kurt Okraku and George Afriyie as Nana Yaw Amponsah dropped out. 
 
However, with the voting underway, George Afriyie begged the attention of the gathering and announced his decision to concede defeat.

He said; "In the interest of football, I concede defeat and congratulate my brother [Kurt ES Okraku].” 
 
There were wild celebrations from the camp of Kurt Okraku, however, Normalisation Committee Kofi Amoah, cut short the celebrations when announced that the process was still not done.

He said delegates had to vote to endorse Kurt Okraku’s victory. 
 
Kurt Okraku received 93 votes and was declared as new GFA President. 
 
He has succeeded Kwesi Nyantakyi as president of GFA. Nyantakyi, who had led GFA since 2005, stood down last year and was later handed a life-time ban by FIFA for breaching ethics guidelines. 
 
The Dreams FC Executive Chairman becomes the 24th President in GFA’s 62-year history. 
 
He will serve for the next four years.

Ex-Black Stars of Ghana forward and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations poster boy Junior Agogo is reported dead at age 40. 
 
The leading football website can confirm that the former Zamalek player passed in London on Thursday morning. 
 
Agogo was hospitalized in 2015 after suffering stroke which debilitated him. 
 
He was remembered for his eye-catching performances for the Black Stars during the 2008 Nations Cup on home soil. 
 
Junior Agogo played for Zamalek before he terminated the contract.

Didier Deschamps' side repeated the success on home soil at France '98 by a margin that hardly looked possible as Croatia stood toe-to-toe with the favourites for an hour. 
 
France's victory meant Deschamps, who captained them 20 years ago, became just the third man to win the competition as a player and coach. 
 
Croatia also felt their luck deserted them, but ultimately France ran out victorious to erase the memories of the loss to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final in Paris. 
 
In one of the most exciting World Cup finals of the modern era, played out to a soundtrack of thunder, Croatia and France delivered an enthralling spectacle that brought the highest goal tally in a final since 1966, a pitch invasion, and a controversial intervention from the video assistant referee that had a huge influence on the outcome. 
 
France took the lead after 18 minutes when Antoine Griezmann's free-kick deflected in off Mario Mandzukic's head - but Croatia were by far the better side in the first half and deservedly equalised courtesy of Ivan Perisic's left-foot finish. 
 
Croatia were left nursing a burning sense of injustice when France restored their lead seven minutes before half-time through Griezmann's penalty, awarded by referee Nestor Pitana for handball against Perisic after a lengthy delay while VAR was consulted. 
 
In a compelling second half, France looked to have wrapped it up with two strikes in six minutes from Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe either side of the hour mark. 
 
Croatia, however, showed unbreakable spirit and even threatened a comeback when Mandzukic took advantage of France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris hesitating over a clearance to pull a goal back. 
 
But France closed out the win to bring redemption for Deschamps after defeat at the Euros two years ago, sparking wild celebrations and ensuring Lloris lifted the World Cup. 
 
France are the team for all seasons - possessing an all-round quality that has carried them to this World Cup triumph. 
 
When that is added to an element of good fortune, it can prove a deadly combination. 
 
Croatia will complain bitterly that Griezmann went down theatrically for the free-kick that led to Mandzukic's own goal, and they will also feel Perisic's handball was not clear-cut enough for VAR to make that decisive intervention just before half-time. 
 
What is not in doubt, however, is the sheer quality this France side possesses, a potent attack the spearhead for a strong midfield and outstanding defence. 
 
When Croatia threatened to come back once more early in the second half, Pogba and Mbappe's strikes from the edge of the area past the static Danijel Subasic - who still looked less than fully fit after injuring a hamstring in the quarter-final against Russia - proved the defining passage of this final. 
 
France celebrated joyously at the final whistle after claiming the sport's greatest trophy once more, with Deschamps - the coach whose conservative methods have often brought criticism - tossed high into the air by his players.

Songo when asked about his opinion on the President of the Ghana Football, Kwesi Nyantakyi, a coy Songo said “To God be the Glory” and drove off without answering the question. 
 
Country Man Songo is one of Ghana’s journalist who has always called for the “head” of the FA President and has on several occasions described him and his cronies as corrupt and incompetent.

CAF secures $10m from FIFA for player bonuses for African World Cup teams

FIFA will give five countries a $2 million advance each on World Cup prize money to pay player bonuses before the tournament in Russia after an approach by the Ahmad Ahmad led body. 
 
This means each African side will have will have $4m to prepare for the World Cup and give the players the sound mind to concentrate on the competition. 
 
Five months ago Ahmad set up a committee, led by his deputy Kwesi Nyantakyi, to examine ways African countries can avert problems that bedevil their participation at the World Cup. 
 
The committee came up with ways of addressing problems of African sides at the global tournament with financial advance payments as one of the key recommendations to stop bonus rows. 
 
Ahmad led CAF to make an appeal to FIFA to make advance payments to the African countries so that players can be paid ahead of the tournament to ensure they focus on the competition. 
 
FIFA has now agreed for Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia to be paid $10m in advance to help "settle beforehand the question of bonuses,” says CAF. 
 
This comes as a massive boost for the countries representing the continent at the tournament in Russia after the bold move by the new leader of CAF Ahmad Ahmad. 
 
The timely financial boost from FIFA adds to the $2.5m grant CAF will give the five countries representing the continent - the first time CAF is supporting its sides at the World Cup. 
 
The 32 federations sending teams to the World Cup get $1.5 million each from FIFA to prepare, plus at least $8 million in prize money after the tournament. 
 
The winner pf the World Cup gets $38 million. 
 
Ahmad's initiative is the first time CAF is directly involved in trying to help African countries excel at the tournament as various problems in the past affected the teams from Africa. 
 
Money disputes at previous World Cups "badly affected the image of African football, with a considerable impact on team performances,” CAF says.At the 2014 World Cup: Cameroon arrived late, Ghana’s government flew in $3 million cash to avert a strike, and Nigeria players canceled a team practice. 
Nyantakyi, who was in charge of Ghana as the federation president at the 2014 World Cup as well as the 2006 and 2010, was tasked by Ahmad to use his first hand experiences together with the FA Presidents of the five countries to help prevent such occurrences. 
 
This comes as another major achievement for Ahmad who is embarking on major reforms of the continental governing body since taking charge one year ago.

The Ghanaian was in inspiring form for the young Blues, who were coming into the game with a first-leg advantage. 
 
The Blues opened the scoring after Billy Gilmour superbly chest-and-finish on the half-volley early on at the Emirates effectively ended the final as a serious contest. 
 
Three further goals in a 20-minute spell placed a shiny gloss on another dominant display from Chelsea as Callum Hudson-Odoi bagged a brace either side of a neat finish from Tino Anjorin. 
 
Callum Hudson Odoi lasted the entire duration and was key to the club's success on Monday night. Meanwhile, compatriot Tariq Lamptey was an unused substitute. 
 
The 17-year-old has already featured for the junior team of the three Lions of England and was a member of the team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India in 2017.

In a fight that sashayed, both boxers were unafraid of giving punches, the Ghanaian won by TKO in eleven rounds.

ROUND BY ROUND (All scores by Joy Sports, not official) 
 
Round 1 – And Dogboe is down! The Ghanaian is knocked down by a vicious combo by the Mexican. It’s the Ghanaian’s first ever career knockdown. Magdaleno was taking a flurry from Dogboe, he waited it out and launched a well-timed three punch combination that sent Dogboe down. 
 
But he gets up after the count. Our score: Magdaleno 10-8 Dogboe 
 
Round 2 – Stats show that Jessie has already landed 18 power punches. This second round sees both fighters checking each other out, and being cautious. But Dogboe suddenly burst into life and launched a series of power punches. Positive stuff from the Ghanaian, as he lands a wide-sweeping right hand. Dogboe seems to have a small swelling but he isn’t bothered. 
 
Round two over. Good stuff from both, especially Dogboe. Reminder that Dogboe went down in the first round after walking into a hook from Magdaleno. Our score: Magdaleno 9-10 Dogboe 
 
Round 3 – begins. Yet another fesity round, with both boxers not afraid to punch. A real give-and-take affair. The officials will find it tough to call these first four rounds so far. But we suspect the first over will definitely go to. Our score:Magdaleno 9-10 Dogboe 
 
Round 4 – Nothing major, just another slugfest. Our score: Magdaleno 9-10 Dogboe 
 
Round 5 – begins. A few body shots from both boxers. And Dogboe knocks Magdaleno down! What a flurry. Dogboe completely took Jessie by surprise and didn’t see that shot coming, as he let himself wide open. We didn’t either. And Magdaleno is on the ropes! But the Mexican quickly clears his head and gets into the center of the ring. Now, it’s back to give and take. Dogboe is NOT fighting like a challenger. He’s fighting like the champion. Round five ends, and definitely the mental side of the fight goes to the man from Anyako. Brilliant. Our score: Magdaleno 8-10 Dogboe 
 
During the break, Magdaleno’s corner was consistently asking him to NOT open up, something he’s been guilty off. He’s also been a bit jaded from the Ghanaian’s blows in round 5. But we gotta give both fighters credit – they do have heart. 
 
Round 6 – Isaac Dogboe continues from where he left off, as Magdaleno looks shaky. Dogboe is simply delivering body shots, and mentally the Ghanaian is on the up. Last two rounds definitely for Dogboe, as he takes jabs and pot shots at the reigning champion. Magdaleno must stop being on the ropes if he wants points to go his way. Round 6 ends, we call it for Dogboe. Magdaleno 9-10 Dogboe. Overall score for us Dogboe winning this 58-54 so far. Come on Dogboe! 
 
Don’t take your eyes off this fight, as both fighters have gone down for the first time in their careers. In Jessie’s case, he’s been knocked down for the first time, whether pro or amateur. 
 
Round 7 – Dogboe begins strongly and the Mexican is not doing much by way of responding. In fact, Isaac is using his host as target practice; a series of one-two-three jabs that are not being responded to. In the final 20 seconds, Magdaleno probably notices that this round is also getting away from him, so he becomes aggressive. But Dogboe just sizes him up and takes it in, and keeps the bout in the ring center. Ref calls an end to this round. Our score:Magdaleno 9-10 Dogboe (Overall: 68-63) 
 
Ghanaian contingent in this 10,200 seater shout their lungs out to help Dogboe. Chants of “Ghana, Ghana, oseeeey yieeee….” 
 
Round 8 – Good left from Jessie. Dogboe stalking though. Good body work, another right to the head from Dogboe. Magdaleno ties him up to get off the ropes. Jessie on the ropes again, again he ties up. At least he’s tying up now. Magdaleno moving and working better this round. He’s landing a little more. Right hand from Dogboe chops in as Jessie comes forward. Magdaleno with a little left. Right hand from Dogboe again. Magdaleno was better this round, but I still think Isaac had the better shots landed. Magdaleno 9-10 Dogboe 
 
Round 9 – Magdaleno still moving better, like last round. It’s keeping him in the argument now, at least. And he’s tying up more instead of letting Dogboe unload. And staying off the ropes. This is more Jessie’s style, giving him more opportunities. Wide left hand from Magdaleno misses. But he’s controlling the tempo at this moment. Dogboe looking for one right hand. Magdaleno not giving him the opening anymore. So there are some good adjustments here, and if judges have it closer than I do, it might be huge. Dogboe not throwing near as much this round. Uneventful round, which favors Jessie. Magdaleno 10-9, Dogboe. Overall: 87-82 
 
Round 10 – Basic round as Dogboe keeps up the work. Magdaleno looking to counter in the corner, doesn’t land anything but doesn’t eat any shots there, either. Dogboe throwing more again, Magdaleno avoiding the shots a little better than before, and tying up quicker. Dogboe coming in like a lion, but Magdaleno throwing with him, nobody landing anything real clean. Right hand from Dogboe! That got Jessie’s attention. Jessie covers up, Dogboe unloads and lands to the body. Hard shot from Dogboe! Magdaleno waves him in but he’s shaken a little bit. HARD body shots and Jessie dips down but doesn’t drop! Wild left might’ve clipped Jessie. Magdaleno falls down trying to tie up. His legs are going. Dogboe backs him to the corner and unloads again to end the round. Big round for Dogboe. Magdaleno 9-10 Dogboe (Overall: 97-91) 
 
Round 11: Dogboe looking to start hot again this round, and I think he stung him again early here. Dogboe just coming right at him, furiously. Magdaleno caught with a shot and goes down again, complaining that he was hit low. Loudly complaining. Dogboe RUSHES at him after action resumes. Another body shot from Dogboe. Jessie in the corner again. Body shot again. Magdaleno down a third time on a left hook and IT IS OVER!
