Mr. Patrick Abankwa Baah, a renowned chartered banker and Lead Facilitator on Patrick TV GH, a rising YouTube financial channel has challenged young people to make the purchase of a land their prime target when they start working before planning towards their marriage.
He made this call on his weekly financial teaching episode on his channel Patrick TV GH on 22nd November, 2019. He featured a business manager Mr. Ebenezer Essumang on the show to discuss how one could plan towards his dream house.
The savings tutor posited that even though this position may not be applicable to everyone, it is a test approach towards financial independence in the marriage. The analyzed two main avenues in Ghana i.e Mortgage and building it by oneself.
Mr. Abankwa Baah further argued that the purchase of the land may not be for inhabiting purposes only. One could buy a land and later sell it at great profit!
According to Mr. Baah, financial education goes beyond keeping money in one’s account. It is about creating value with your income for yourself and the next generation. It includes everything related to your comfort yesterday, today and tomorrow.
He concluded by saying that housing had become a necessity due to the densely populated manner of our capital towns and the high cost of renting a house thus, all efforts should be made to reduce the stress associated with housing.
